Chapter 104

Exceptionality

GT Handbook

Gifted and talented children are those students who excel, or have the potential to excel, beyond their age peers, in the regular school program, to the extent that they need and can benefit from gifted and talented education programs.

State Approved Program

A range of exceptionalities exist within our school population, and like all others - the presence of the exceptionality of giftedness suggests the probable and legitimate need for:

  • Differentiated and individualized plans for learning (ILP)
  • Specialized instruction
  • Consultation & support for classroom teachers, parents and students

This handbook has been organized around frequently asked questions in order to provide information and guidance to parents, faculty members, students, and interested community members.
