COVID News

We continue to adhere to strict safety protocols across the district that are proving to keep our students and staff safe while in our building and on our transportation, yet community spread outside of our schools continues to impact our schools. Though our procedures allow us to swiftly react when community spread impacts a building, we continue to need your help in being proactive about mitigation strategies. We urge families to be extra vigilant about mask wearing in public or around those outside of the immediate home as well as to be vigilant about hand hygiene, and a reminder to continue your efforts to complete the daily prescreening. PLEASE CALL OUR COVID-HOTLINE at 593-3541 to report a positive staff or student COVID case during any non-regular school hours (nights, weekends, school vacations). Please call the school directly during school hours to talk with a nurse if you receive positive results during normal school hours.

April 30, 2021 - Outdoor Face Coverings Update
As you may have heard, Governor Mills announced this week that Maine is easing the requirements on the use of face coverings in outdoor public settings, regardless of whether a person is vaccinated.   Since this updated guidance is effective immediately, you might be wondering how this guidance affects schools’ outdoor activities.   In outdoor settings where students and staff are able to maintain the physical distancing requirements of 6 feet or more, masks will no longer be required.  Scenarios such as (but not limited to) sitting closer than 6 feet on a bench together for sports, close play at recess, and outdoor exercise activities that run the risk of students being closer than 6 feet will still require the use of a face covering.  It is important to RSU 13 that we support the easing of restrictions while balancing our duties in health and safety and contact-tracing efforts.
